The teenager from Massachusetts has pleaded guilty to hacking into the Mobile phone of Hollywood Celebrity Paris Hilton. He has been charged on various grounds of online posting of indecent photos and celebrity contact numbers from  Hilton's phone. He has been put under 11 month's detention.

He has also pleaded guilty of
  • Hacking into a telephone company's computer system
  • Making bomb threats at two high schools,

The 17 year old will be detained for 11 months at a Juvenile facility and as an adult, he will further undergo two years supervised release in which he will barred from using Internet and possessing any computer, mobile, etc from which Internet can be accessed.

'Hacking' is ofcourse a serious crime in India also under section 66 of IT Act. But the recent proposed amendments by Government tend to dilute the provisions by deleting the word 'Hacking" and providing it under some general provision, which has raised eyebrows all over the world.
